Scientific Executive Board

Adding an antibody agent to a culture The role of the Scientific Executive Board (SEB) is to develop and implement the organisation's scientific strategy and policy.

The Board meets once a month and is chaired by our Chief Executive, Harpal Kumar. The other members of the Board are:

  • Dr Keith Blundy, Chief Executive Officer, Cancer Research Technology
  • Dr Lilian Clark, Executive Director, Science Operations and Funding
  • Professor Peter Johnson, Chief Clinician
  • Professor Sir David Lane FRS, Chief Scientist
  • Professor Herbie Newell, Interim Executive Director, Clinical and Translational Research and Research Strategy (CTRARS)
  • Lynne Robb, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director, Corporate Resources

The Secretary is Dr Joanna Reynolds, Director of Research Strategy.

The SEB interacts closely with the Council Research Strategy Committee and the executives also seek advice on matters of science strategy and policy from the Science Strategy Advisory Group.


Science Strategy Advisory Group

The Science Strategy Advisory Group (SSAG) meets once a year to provide advice to the Scientific Executive Board (SEB) on key scientific strategy and policy issues.
